Mind-body harmonics

The human body is super-intelligent. You may even say it has a ‘mind’ of its own. No wonder that the body identifies when we are happy, sad, stressed or bored. It even knows how to behave in such situations – for instance, the eyes glitter when we are happy, a frown settles on the brow when we are sad and the eyes roll in boredom.

Likewise the body even senses prolonged emotions and responds to them appropriately; these responses may have long-standing repercussions on the body – sometimes irreversible ones. This is what sums up the concept of psychosomatic illnesses. I remember a case of an Englishman whose asthma disappeared after the death of his wife. So was he allergic to her perfume , her dandruff, or just simply her nagging? The simple fact is that bodily ailments often find their cause in the mind. Emotional maladjustment leads to chronic physical dysfunction in the long run.

High blood pressure, diabetes, stomach ulcers, migraine, bronchial asthma and numerous other conditions have their roots firmly embedded in the mind. Medical science has even proved that stress is one of the major risk factors for these psychosomatic illnesses. This is why it is important to approach these conditions with a mind-body remedy as offered by homeopathy.

We received a case where the patient, a young child, suffered from an acute attack of asthma every time his father travelled away. It was his emotional insecurity that was manifesting itself physically. We treated the child with Magnesium Carbonicum. He was relieved of his complaint, his father’s absence no longer triggered any asthma attacks.

One cannot separate the mind and body . They function as a whole. My advice to all patients is use your head to cure your body. Choose homeopathy.

My friend got high blood pressure at a very young age - when he was just about 33 years old. He told me that his doctor said it was probably induced by mental stress. On the other hand, my yoga teacher says you can use your mind to bring things under control. The mind can work both ways - for good or bad. Depends on how we use it.
